Beliefs & Wisdom

What they believe, what they know now, and what they want to pass on.

What someone believes, what they have learned, and what they hope to pass on is the heart of why families record these conversations at all. These questions about beliefs and wisdom give a parent or grandparent the chance to say the things that are hard to bring up in ordinary talk.

They work beautifully as a closing set, once the easier memories have warmed everyone up. Ask gently and don’t rush the answers — these are the ones people most want to get right. Recorded in their own voice, a few words of hard-won wisdom can become the most treasured part of the whole archive.
